Fidelity Launches Facebook Site

Fidelity International, the UK asset manager, is capitalising on the exponential growth of social media by launching a Facebook site for investors, and has created a portfolio challenge game on the site to mark its launch.

Fidelity has previously launched a Fidelity Twitter page, as the firm says it recognises the potential the social media space offers to communicate with current and potential investors.

The new Facebook page will host content such as news and insights from industry experts, details of special offers and tools to help investors make the most of their money. It will also inform investors of upcoming webcasts and events.

“Facebook and Twitter are of course both rapidly growing networks, and are an excellent way in which we can deliver financial information and opinions to our customers quickly and efficiently and engage in more direct dialogue with them,” said Rob Fisher, head of UK personal investments at Fidelity International.

In the portfolio challenge game, investors are given £50,000 ($79,000) of virtual money to split equally between shares and funds available on Fidelity’s fund supermarket, FundsNetwork, and there is a £10,000 prize at stake at the end of the year. The game is designed to get investors thinking more about their investments, said the firm.
