Fidelity International Unveils Investment iPhone App

Fidelity International is to launch a free iPhone app which will give advisors and investors access to fund prices, data and performance analytics for the 1,100 funds available on its FundsNetwork.

Among the app’s features are a fund search facility, fund performance graphs, including dynamic benchmark displays, the ability to put funds on a “watch list” and a “click to call” service allowing users to phone Fidelity representatives directly from the app. Additionally, the service also features breaking news and expert opinions from investment commentators including Tom Stevenson and Trevor Greetham.

"The iPhone is used by over two million people in the UK and is increasingly becoming the dominant mobile web platform. Developing an investment app made sense and means that advisors and their clients can keep abreast of the latest fund and market news, as well as track fund holdings," Peter Hicks, head of UK retail sales at Fidelity International, said in a statement.

Fidelity has been prominent for pushing forward with its use of digital media recently, the firm having launched Twitter and Facebook presences earlier in the year. Moreover, Fidelity is far from alone in moving to forge ahead to make greater use of the web and mobile technology.

Firms all over the world are moving to take advantage of mobile devices to satisfy clients’ increased demand to stay better informed about their investments. Last month, for example, the US technology firm SunGard unveiled Ambit Mobile Banking, an extension of its Ambit Private Banking product suite that allows users to monitor their portfolios via mobile devices. CIM Banque, the Geneva-based private bank, was the first user to go live with the system.
