FF&P Takes Large Stake In Connectivity, Data Firm; Adds To Wealth Arm

The private equity arm of Fleming Family & Partners, the multi-family office, has bought into a global connectivity and data management firm, making it the largest single minority shareholder, while FF&P’s wealth management arm has appointed two senior managers.

FF&P Private Equity has invested an undisclosed sum into Sohonet. “FF&P PE will become the largest single minority shareholder, with the remaining shares being held by the management team and angel investors from the management team buyout in 2003,” it said in a statement.

The investment is intended to boost Sohonet’s international expansion, FF&P PE said.

“Over the last ten years the [Sohonet] management has built a profitable business and created the world’s largest independent media network looking after the data management needs of the media and entertainment industry. Additional growth capital will enable the team to deliver its growth strategy. A particular strength of the business is its ability to sit at the centre of a collaborative network of customers and we look forward to helping the network expand further internationally in the coming years,” said David Barbour, co-head and director of FF&P Private Equity.

In other recent developments, FF&P Wealth Planning has added Will Tudhope and David Nelson to its client-facing team.

Tudhope, latterly at St James’s Place, will be client director at FF&P. He has over 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including 17 years with Goldman Sachs, where he was responsible for client relationships with senior institutional investors in the equities division, before moving from institutional clients to private clients in 2009.

Nelson, who begins his new role as associate director for FF&P at the start of next year, joins from Towry, the wealth management firm, and is a chartered financial practitioner.
