Ex-StanChart Executive Joins Barclays Wealth India

Barclays Wealth, the wealth management arm of Barclays PLC, has appointed Rahul Ahuja director in India.

Ahuja steps in from Standard Chartered Bank, where he was team leader for North India for the middle market segment. He is a chartered accountant with over 14 years of experience in corporate banking and has also served key roles at GE Capital and Scotia Bank.

"Rahul's appointment is significant as we continue to expand our best-in-class client coverage team in India. We have been consistently looking for talent across the industry, particularly from corporate and investment banking to expand our team to cover the ultra high net-worth space, which is dominated largely by promoters in the large and mid-cap segment," said Satya Bansal, the chief executive officer of Barclays Wealth in India.

Ahuja will be based in Delhi and will be responsible for servicing and growing the company's private client base in the country, targetting primarily family business owners. He reports directly to Vishal Jain, the Mumbai-based director.

Barclays Wealth currently has over 120 employees across Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata. It is looking to expand its staff numbers by 25 to 30 per cent over the next months.
