Emirates NBD Confirms That Private Bank General Manager Has Left

Robbert Jan Voogt, who has been general manager, private banking, at Emirates NBD, has left the Middle Eastern bank, this publication can confirm.
He left the firm earlier this year, WealthBriefing had learned, but finally got confirmation in a statement from the bank yesterday. The private banking operations of Emirates NBD are now led by Gary Dugan, as acting general manager and chief investment officer. The bank did not state whether there are moves afoot to appoint Dugan on a permanent basis in the general manager role.
“During his tenure, he [Jan Voogt] played a fundamental role in the establishment of the private banking division at the bank, leading a team of professionals to offer local, regional and global investments, deposits, basic banking and lending solutions, to high net worth and ultra high net worth clients," a spokesperson for the bank told this publication.
Jan Voogt, who joined the bank in 2008, decided to move on to “pursue other career options”, the spokesperson said.
The bank has made a number of high-level appointments in recent months. For example, Emirates NBD appointed Iyad Quttaineh as its new head of private banking in London, this publication reported in August. He was previously a senior investment manager at BNP Paribas.
In February this year, the bank officially launched its first private banking centre in Abu Dhabi.
