EXCLUSIVE: HSBC's Private Bank Changes Offices In London

Private bankers at HSBC in London are moving to new homes in the capital, this publication can exclusively report.

HSBC Global Private Banking is moving to London’s Canary Wharf from the first quarter of next year, while HSBC’s client-facing UK private banking business its moving to Cork Street, leaving its St James’s Street location, this publication understands.

The Canary Wharf office will be at 8 Canada Square, which is already the HSBC headquarters. The move from 78 St James’ St will take place starting in early 2018.

As far as the UK business is concerned, front-office roles and most other colleagues supporting that business will shift to Cork Street. Global private banking colleagues in global roles who currently work in St James’s Street will relocate to Canary Wharf.

HSBC said in an internal memo that the changes will enable more collaboration between its teams and the wider HSBC group. It noted that the recent move to new premises in Geneva had been a success for staff and clients alike.
