EFG Hires From UBS For Zurich Private Banking Head, Eyes More Recruits

EFG Bank has recruited former UBS man Walter Arnold as its new head of private banking in Zurich.

EFG Bank, EFG International’s business in Switzerland, has recruited Walter Arnold as its new head of private banking in Zurich, effective from 1 May.

Arnold was at UBS from 2004, and before that at Credit Suisse. At UBS, he held a number of senior positions within UBS Wealth Management, most recently heading up the wealth management segment in Switzerland. Prior to this he was chief operating officer and deputy head of Russia, Austria, central Europe and UK International, and business sector head Germany International.

EFG has made clear that Arnold’s primary role is to recruit high quality client relationship officers; he will accordingly work closely with Paul Imison, chairman of the private banking business in Zurich.

Imison said: “We have ambitious plans for our Swiss business, and I am delighted that Walter is joining us. He has a key role to play in delivering our growth strategy in Switzerland, including attracting experienced and entrepreneurial CROs."
