Deutsche Bank Appoints New Governance Officer

Deutsche Bank, Germany's largest bank by assets, has announced the appointment of Daniela Weber-Rey as chief governance officer and deputy global head of compliance, effective from 1 June.
She will join from the law firm Clifford Chance, where she focused on financial institutions, corporate governance and compliance.
The move comes at a time when a number of the world's biggest banks have made high-profile appointments in compliance and risk management in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis and subsequent upheavals.
Weber-Rey will report to Stephan Leithner, member of the management board and group executive committee, will oversee corporate governance globally, including advise the management board on governance structures and processes of the bank.
As deputy global head of compliance, she will report to Andrew Procter.
She was previously a member of the EU Commission's group of corporate governance experts for the financial services area and continues to be a member of the Commission of the German Corporate Governance Code.
"Staying at the forefront on governance structures and processes, will be critical in the context of significant market and regulatory change. It will be an important component of the Bank’s cultural change initiative in ensuring good decision making and clear accountabilities across the Bank," Leithner said in a statement.
