Credit Suisse Continues To Expand in Poland

Credit Suisse is to strengthen its investment banking position in Poland by re-establishing Warsaw-based equity trading capabilities and by increasing research coverage for Polish companies.
This move comes after Credit Suisse launched a private banking business in Poland, last year.
"Poland is a key market in our growth strategy for Central Europe,” said Michael Rüdiger, chief executive for Central Europe.
“Poland is an important market with a lot of growth potential. With our unique offering as an integrated bank, offering our strong Investment Banking, Private Banking and Asset Management capabilities, we are confident that we can add value to support the development of the country,” Mr Rüdiger added.
The Swiss private bank has been active in the investment banking business in Poland since 1992. It now plans to re-establish its local equity trading business in Warsaw and increase research coverage for Polish listed companies in 2010.
The firm hopes that this move will support the goal of becoming a leading trader on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
At the same time, the Swiss bank will continue to focus on its private banking business which was started in 2009, as this publication reported.
Marek Gul, chief executive for Poland and chairman for Central and Eastern Europe, said: "The decision to strengthen Warsaw as our largest business operation in Central Eastern Europe reflects the importance of the Polish economy and the Polish financial market for the whole Region."
