Credit Suisse has appointed Promit Ghose from JP Morgan, taking up the post of team leader in Dubai for the non-resident India client desk, WealthBriefingAsia can reveal.

Mr Ghose joined the Zurich-listed bank in mid-August. This publication understands that the bank is expanding its NRI operations but was unable to confirm details from Credit Suisse about such developments.

The NRI client segment, seen as a significant one due to the rapid growth of the Indian economy in recent years, has led to a number of moves at other private banks. For example, in August, Barclays Wealth in Singapore recruited a team of NRI specialists from UBS. The head of the NRI team for southeast Asia at Deutsche Wealth Management has recently left the German firm, believed to be for JP Morgan.
