Cordium, IP Solutions Join As Pressure From FCA Mounts For Compliant IT Systems

Compliance consulting firm Cordium has climbed into bed with IP Sentinel, a specialist provider of IT solutions, cybersecurity and audit services as the FCA and SEC press down on technology regulations.

Compliance consulting firm Cordium has joined forces with IP Sentinel, a specialist provider of IT solutions, cyber-security and audit services as the FCA and SEC press down on technology regulations.

In a move announced yesterday, the new partnership was entered as clients’ desire for advice on safeguarding their infrastructure and cost-effective IT solutions is ever-growing, the firms said in a statement.

Previously London-headquartered Cordium provided consulting on compliance, tax, accounting and software to its clients. With IP Sentinel by its side it can now offer compliance architectures, as well as IT outsourcing management.

In the past few years, technology has become a crucial tool in adhering to regulatory standards, from maintaining records to the proper execution of trades. While the SEC is emphasising the importance of cyber-security, the FCA has stated that a firm must have a functioning technology set-up in place to meet its obligations.

“In today’s world the ability of a firm to comply with regulatory obligations is completely intertwined with its IT systems and procedures. Yet, the industry has evolved in such a way that the two are typically thought of and dealt with quite separately,” James Hogbin, founder and director of IP Sentinel said.

“Recently this has become something that firms can ill-afford as the FCA is explicitly turning its attention to the management of IT,” he added.

IP Sentinel was formed last year to provide IT regulatory assistance to the fund management industry. Cordium, a firm that has been in the game since 1997, has global offices in London, the US, Malta and Hong Kong and supports over 1,500 investment businesses.
