Columbia Threadneedle Hires M&G Chief Risk Officer

The asset management group has filled the role vacated by its EMEA chief.

Columbia Threadneedle has appointed Michelle Scrimgeour as chief executive, Europe, Middle East and Africa and chief executive of Threadneedle Asset Management.

She replaces Campbell Fleming, who left Columbia Threadneedle earlier this year. Scrimgeour has been chief risk officer and director of M&G since 2012. Before that, she was co-head of fixed income business management at BlackRock. There, she led the firm's $1 trillion EMEA business and oversaw the integration of BlackRock and Barclays Global Investors in London.

Based in London, Scrimgeour will also join the executive leadership team of Columbia Threadneedle’s parent company, New York-listed Ameriprise Financial.

“Michelle is a business leader with excellent asset management experience and a strong track record of achieving results. In addition to her extensive experience across distribution, product, operations, risk and control functions, she brings energy, commerciality and a strong understanding of both wholesale and institutional client needs,” said Ted Truscott, global CEO at Columbia Threadneedle.
