Citigroup Appoints Country Officer For Singapore

The US bank has appointed a new country boss for Singapore and head of ASEAN.
Citigroup has
appointed Amol Gupte as Citi country officer for Singapore and
head of ASEAN, taking over from Michael Zink, who is leaving the
bank. The appointment is subject to regulatory
approval.
Gupte will relocate to Singapore. He will continue to report
to Francisco Aristeguieta and participate in the Asia-Pacific
operating committee. He will oversee all the
bank's businesses and franchise operations in Singapore, and
will be responsible for maintaining regulatory and governance
standards. Gupte will also lead the bank’s ASEAN cluster.
A 27–year Citi veteran, Gupte has been head of trade and treasury
solutions for Asia-Pacific since 2012. Previously, he served in a
number of senior TTS roles in North America, EMEA and Asia. He
started his career with Citi in the consumer bank in India with
roles in sales, product management and treasury.
The bank is looking for a successor to fill Gupte’s former
role.
As part of the transition, Patrick Dewilde, Asia-Pacific head of
markets and securities services, in addition to his current role,
is serving as interim CCO for Singapore.
The US bank last week appointed long-serving senior manager
Christine Lam as country officer for China, effective June 2016.
Lam will oversee all of Citi’s businesses and franchise
operations in China and be responsible for its regulatory and
governance standards. She will report to Aristeguieta, chief
executive of Citi Asia-Pacific. In the role, Lam succeeds Andrew
Au, who is retiring from Citigroup on 1 June. Lam is a 33-year
Citigroup veteran, whose previous role was head of operations and
technology for Asia-Pacific. Citigroup has located many global
operations and technology functions to the region including
O&T centres of excellence in China, India, Malaysia,
Philippines and Singapore.
