Changes at the Top at BNP Paribas

BNP Paribas has appointed Jean-Laurent Bonnafe as a second chief operating officer to be responsible for its retail business and Jean Clamon as managing director of internal control. These top-level changes are accompanied by many more at just below board level.

The bank says its aim is to “adapt the group's organisation to the current trends of its businesses, and at the same time confirm the independence of the group's control mechanisms and improve their co-ordination.” It believes that the financial crisis has once again highlighted the importance of this independence.
