Carmignac Gestion Strengthens Commodities Team

Carmignac Gestion, the French asset manager, has strengthened its commodities team with the appointment of Simon Lovat.

Lovat has ten years’ experience in the financial industry and previously worked co-managing a commodities fund for the entrepreneurial firm Gaia Capital Advisors in Geneva.

The team, led by David Field, will contribute to what the firm views as a key investment theme: growing demand for natural resources in a world facing supply shortages.

In January of this year, Carmignac Gestion added an analyst to its Asia team, two sales persons to its Swiss team and launched a new emerging market fund.

Carmignac Gestion manages €55 billion (around $77 billion) in assets and has 18 funds across all asset classes.
