Boston Private Financial has increased its investment in Bingham, Osborn & Scarborough, the US West Coast wealth manager, to 49.7 per cent, having bought into the firm by increments since 2004. Boston Private completed an initial 20 per cent investment in San Francisco and Menlo Park-based BOS in February 2004 and purchased an additional 10 per cent in each of August 2004 and August 2005. BOS manages approximately $1.5 billion of client assets and is a fee-only wealth management firm specialising in strategies for retirement planning, estate planning, charitable giving, insurance programmes and tax management. Jonathan Parker, Boston Private's Western Regional President said: "Since our initial acquisition of 20 per cent of BOS in September 2003, the firm's performance and growth has been exceptional. We have continued to invest in them over time, further anchoring our Northern California wealth management presence."
