Berenberg Scoops Manager, Launches Two Divisions

Berenberg, the family-owned German private bank, has hired a senior manager for its new UK private banking arm, the first senior hire since the launch of the division earlier this year.
Richard Brass joins the management team of the 420-year old private bank. He will work alongside Fred Hervey and Ross Elder, who established the City-based office early this year. They were previously based at Barclays Wealth.
Brass joins from Schroders Private Banking, where he was a client director. He will be responsible for the UK launch of the Entrepreneurs Office and the Berenberg family office advisory business Consilisto.
Hervey said: “It is hard to find first-class wealth management practitioners so we are delighted to welcome Richard with his background in corporate finance and in advising business owners and entrepreneurs. Equally, his background in investment banking reinforces our commitment to providing sophisticated investment advice, as part of the full client service mandate we are seeking to offer in the UK."
Berenberg was launched in Hamburg 420 years ago and has over €25 billion (about $36 billion) in assets under management. Several members of the original family are employed by the bank today.
