Barings Hires Ex-RBS Currency Specialist
The London-headquartered investment manager has created a leadership position in fixed income and currency research.
Baring Asset Management has appointed Brian Mangwiro as director of fixed income and currency research.
Mangwiro joined last month from RBS Global Banking & Markets, where he was director of global FX desk strategy. In the new London-based role, he reports to Barings’ head of research, Nigel Sillis.
“During a time when monetary policy is one key focus for markets, seeking currency opportunities to complement alpha derived from bond markets is going to remain a significant aspect of global fixed income investing,” said Alan Wilde, the firm's head of fixed income – global.
“Currency markets can behave very differently to bonds and Brian’s experience in this area will further enhance our existing expertise in the team and our search to add value for our clients.”
The hire follows January’s appointment of Darryl Lucas, who formerly worked at Sarasin & Partners, as Barings' new global equity income investment manager in London. Barings provides equity, fixed income and multi-asset portfolio management services to institutions, retail investors and private individuals.
