Barclays Wealth Aims To Quadruple Business Size In Asia Over Five Years

Barclays Wealth is aiming to quadruple the size of its business in key regions of Asia over the course of the next five years, according to Bloomberg.
Srinivas Siripurapu, head of south-east Asia and south Asia at London-based Barclays Wealth, reportedly said that the firm will hire more bankers and inject extra capital into its private banking unit in his region.
Siripurapu said Barclays Wealth has "these huge plans and vision of growing to a certain level, that's what makes it exciting".
"Everybody is growing… but we are trying to grow much more than others," he added.
Barclays Wealth did not immediately respond to this publication's requests for elaboration on the report. However, in the past, the firm has made it clear it intends to grow outside its domestic UK market. For example, Barclays aims to triple the assets under management at its Swiss subsidiary within five years. It currently manages SFr16 billion (about $14.1 billion) in Switzerland.
