Barclays Global Investors has the most assets under management in the UK, with £208,848 million,($266,827m)in a study compiled by The Investment Management Association. Legal & General Investment Management was in second place were the only other firm with over £200 billion (£204,328 million). The third-biggest pot of assets under management is held by M&G Securities with £145,869 million. Forth and fifth place in the list are: Morley Fund Management with £139,810 million and State Street Global Advisors with £138,145 million. The next five are: JP Morgan Asset Management, £109,918 million; Standard Life Investments, £105,700 million; Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, £94,741 million; Insight Investment Management, £88,743 million and Fidelity International, £87,418 million. The Investment Management Association, said: “By December 2005 the top two firms had gained more than £200 billion each in assets under management, but this had little overall further effect in industry concentration. “The increasingly global nature of the asset management industry means that some firms that are the largest in terms of largest in international terms will not rank highly in the UK due to national skews in their business”.
