Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Expands In Asia With Penang, Turkey Branches

Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, the Japanese bank, has opened a new branch in Penang, Malaysia.

Penang state is the second most developed state and transportation hub in the country. Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ has three other offices in Malaysia: a representative office in Kuala Lumpur, and a branch and a subsidiary bank in Labuan. The launch in Penang is meant to improve services for clients in the Northern areas.

BTMU has been actively expanding globally over the past months. Most recently, the firm launched a wholly-owned subsidiary in Turkey called Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Turkey Anonim Sirketi to take advantage of its geopolitical importance. Turkey sits at a central point between Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North Africa.
