Bank of Singapore Appoints Chief Economist

Bank of Singapore, purchased by Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation for $1.4 billion in January, has appointed Jan Lee as chief economist.
Lee joins from the Australian Government where he served as policy advisor and economist. Before this, he served as chief economist and chief strategist at several global investment banks and wealth management institutions, such as UBS where he served as a China specialist, and Goldman Sachs, leading the US firm’s Asia and China research team. He will be based in Singapore and report to Hou Wey Fook, chief investment officer for Bank of Singapore.
In other news, OCBC also added Alistair Marsh as head of trading advisory and product development.
Prior to joining Bank of Singapore, Marsh worked at Citibank, Indosuez, American Express, and more recently was heading the product and advisory group at ING Private Bank, Switzerland.
OCBC, the parent company of Bank of Singapore, recently reported a net profit of S$503 million (around $370 million) for the second quarter of 2010, compared to S$676 million (about $500 million) in the first quarter of 2010.
