BNY Mellon Hires Northern Trust UHNW Veteran To Lead Southern California Growth
BNY Mellon Wealth Management has hired the former global director of sales, marketing and portfolio management for Northern Trust's global family and private investment offices group.
BNY Mellon Wealth Management has hired the former global director of sales, marketing and portfolio management at Northern Trust's global family and private investment offices group, as the Wall Street firm targets growth in Southern California.
Shannon Kennedy joins BNY Mellon as president for Orange and San Diego counties - a newly-created post based in Newport Beach, CA.
Kennedy, who takes up her new role on July 8, will report to David Emmes, who heads up western US markets at BNY Mellon Wealth Management.
Kennedy worked at Northern Trust for 26 years, most recently as global director of sales, marketing and portfolio management for the firm’s global family and private investment offices group. In that role, she worked with families with over $200 million.
“I am particularly impressed by the incredible investment BNY Mellon is making in its wealth business. It’s a real differentiator for us in our industry,” Kennedy said.
Emmes described the Orange County-San Diego region as a “key and fast-growing” wealth market.
The new hire is part of BNY Mellon's recently-announced recruiting campaign for its wealth management business, which will involve the addition of around 100 new positions in the US and abroad. Last week, for example, the firm continued a raft of recent hires with the addition of Catherine Irby Arnold as senior director in Seattle, WA.
