BCV Sows Seeds Of Entrepreneurship
Local high-potential students will have the chance to feed their entrepreneurial spirit at this year's Sillicon Valley Startup Camp, run by Swiss cantonal bank BCV.
Switzerland's Banque Cantonale Vaudoise is once again encouraging local aspiring entrepreneurs to consider its startup camp in Silicon Valley.
It will be the third edition of the bank's Silicon Valley Startup Camp and another example of how financial and corporate institutions are engaging the next generation of entrepreneurs.
BCV partnered with several institutions to make the project possible. These include the University of Lausanne and the Vaud Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
This year's camp, starting at the end of August, will take up to 10 students chosen by a jury of representatives from each of the project partners. Budding entrepreneurs have been invited to apply for the coveted spots via the camp's Facebook page over the next month.
Many would argue that peer-to-peer engagement is central to entrepreneurship and BCV is fostering this very ethos. The camp allows promising students from Vaud, Switzerland, to meet like-minded individuals, as well as business pioneers in roles they could very well take over, rival or advance in future years. Indeed, they'll be able to enjoy “insider” tours of companies such as AirBnB, Square and Twitter.
Camp-goers will be able to attend tailor-made workshops, meet venture capitalists and visit universities such as Berkeley and Stanford.
To organise the camp, BCV collaborated with Swissnex San Francisco, which focuses on strengthening ties between Switzerland and North America in the areas of science, education, art and innovation.
