Aon Risk Solutions, risk management arm of UK-based financial services firm, has named a new chief executive for Australia.

Effective January 2014, Lambros Lambrou takes the lead role at the Australian firm, replacing long-time CEO Steve Nevett who will continue on a chairman of the Pacific region. Lambrou is currently the head of the London global broking centre and chief broking officer for Europe, Middle East and Asia. Prior to that, he was head of Aon Broking in Chicago. 

The firm said that the appointment of Lambrou, who will then report to Nevett, will allow the latter to focus on the firm's Pacific growth strategy by building key client and market relationships. The risk solutions unit's coverage includes crisis management, mergers and acquisitions, private client insurance and valuation services, among others. 

Aon operates through three businesses in Australia: Aon Hewitt, Aon Risk Solutions and Aon Benfield. It has around 1,600 staff in the country.
