Amex Thought to be in Final Stages of Selling Private Bank

American Express is in the final stages of negotiating the sale of its private banking unit, according to Reuters, citing a source familiar with the situation. According to the source, the buyer is most likely to be a large global financial institution, although it did not rule out a medium-sized buyer. "Several buyers have been identified and one of them will be finalised. These things can be done in days or weeks but we are not talking months," the source told Reuters.
