Alquity Names Asian Equities Head As It Expands Its India, Asia Offerings
UK-based Alquity Investment Management names former F&C Investments executive as head of Asian equities.
Alquity Investment Management, the UK-headquartered investment firm, has bolstered its Asian business with the appointment of a new Asian head.
Mike Sell joins as head of Asian equities from F&C Investments, where he was senior fund manager in the emerging markets equities team. His hire comes shortly after Roberto Lampl, ex-emerging markets CEO at Barings stepped in as head of Latin America in early January 2014.
The connection is relevant as Alquity is seeking to broaden the range of products under its existing Africa fund into both Latin America and the Indian sub-continent and Asia for Lampl and Sell, respectively. Alquity Africa was launched in 2010 and has seen its assets grow from $22 million to $65 million in 2013.
"We will be using the same investment process in Asia and Latin America, using on the ground partners, ensuring the projects we back are transparent and have the ability to let our clients go out there and see the work we are doing," said Paul Robinson, chief executive, in a statement.
