After Setbacks, US Firm To Launch New Commodity Funds - Report

New York based Ospraie Management, which last year had to close its commodities hedge fund, is to launch two new hedge funds - the Ospraie Commodity Fund and the Ospraie Equity Fund – in July, according to a letter the firm’s Dwight Anderson has written to investors, as reported by MarketWatch.
Mr Anderson launched Ospraie in partnership with Paul Tudor Jones's Tudor Investment Corp in February 2000.
Commodity investors have been on a roller-coaster ride in recent months; in 2007, most commodities surged amid the still-strong global economic environment but last year a number of indices fell as the credit crunch took hold. A notable exception has been gold, which remains strong on the back of safe-haven inflows from worried investors.
