AXA Investment Managers Appoints International Economist

AXA Group's investment branch has added an economist from INSEE to its research and investment strategy team.
AXA Investment Managers has appointed Laurent Clavel as senior international economist in Paris.
Clavel joins from the French National Statistical Institute (INSEE) where he was head of the forecasting unit and held responsibility for INSEE’s quarterly economic outlook.
Based in Paris, Clavel will take part in the analysis and research work conducted by the business's research and investment strategy (R&IS) team. He will focus specifically on international flows, cross border investments and exchange rates.
“His knowledge and experience of both French and international macroeconomic analysis, extensive academic background and experience of working at INSEE, will significantly reinforce our ability to analyse and anticipate world economics and international financial markets,” AXA IM's head of research and AXA Group's chief economist, Eric Chaney, said.
“As part of the R&IS team, Laurent will support our mission: to use economic analysis to help asset managers make decisions and help the needs of our company’s customers.”
AXA Investment Managers, which operates out of 28 offices across 21 countries, had around €694 billion ($781 billion) in assets under management as of the end of June. Earlier this year, the asset manager welcomed back its former sales manager Florence Dard as head of France.
