ANZ Names New Chief Representative For Malaysia

Australia and New Zealand Banking Corp has appointed former Bank of America Merrill Lynch senior manager Tracy Ong as chief representative for Malaysia. She takes over the reins from Fauziah Hisham, who retired in July after six years as the group representative in Malaysia.

Ong reports to the chief executive for Singapore and Malaysia, Vishnu Shahaney.
From 2013, at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Malaysia, Ong was managing director, head of corporate banking. Prior to this she was managing director and country head, Bank of America Malaysia Berhad.
Ong has been executive director and deputy CEO at Danajamin Nasional Berhad, Malaysia and has also held several senior positions with the Maybank Group, where she last served as head of corporate banking at Malayan Banking Berhad.
As part of the change, Madeline Leong, who has been acting representative since July, will focus on her role as director of international banking for the Malaysian office.
ANZ said it was the first foreign bank to seek and obtain representative status in Malaysia in 1971 as a unit of Grindlays Bank. As a representative office, ANZ Kuala Lumpur supports and markets the group's capabilities outside Malaysia. ANZ also serves its Malaysia customers through the ANZ-AmBank partnership.
As reported a few weeks ago, ANZ appointed Huang Xiaoguang as chief executive for China, reporting to the CEO for international banking, Farhan Faruqui.
