Withers In Vogue Tax Department Makes Hire

International law firm Withers has hired Tessa Lorimer to boost its tax dispute and investigation practise which has experienced a spike in demand since the Government ramped up its anti-tax avoidance campaign over the past couple of years.

International law firm Withers has hired Tessa Lorimer to boost its tax dispute and investigation department which has experienced a spike in demand since the government ramped up its anti-tax avoidance campaign.

Lorimer joins from GSC Solicitors, where she worked as a barrister advising on civil and criminal tax investigation matters. Previously she spent 20 years in senior prosecution positions in the Inland Revenue Solicitors' Office, Revenue and Customs Prosecutions Office and CPS Central Fraud Unit.

“As HMRC’s anti-tax avoidance campaign gathers increasing strength and reaches further into individuals’ activities and finances, our services have been in increasing demand,” said Maurice Martin, head of tax investigations at the firm.

“People are often very concerned about the uncertainty of their position, especially as the government regularly introduces new measures and modifies historic rules. Tessa’s considerable skills and wide range of experience are a great boost to our capabilities,” he added.

Withers’ tax investigations practice was established in 2011.
