Epoch Wealth Management, a firm based in the western part of the UK, has appointed former charity boss Richard Barrington as chief operating officer.

Barrington joins Epoch from the West of England Sport Trust where as COO he was responsible for the trust's charity, which was established by Sport England to promote participation in sport across the region.

Barrington, whose appointment has received regulatory approval from the UK's Financial Conduct Authority, was previously a financial advisor and business manager at Chase de Vere.

In his new role, Barrington will provide operational support and strategic guidance to Epoch which has seen growing demand for its specialist investment and tax planning services among charities and corporate clients, the firm said.

In other recent hires at the firm, earlier in the month Epoch Wealth Management appointed a veteran compliance specialist Belinda Cusmans as part of what the firm says is a recruitment drive.
