Channel Islands Trust Firm Makes Acquisition, Hopes To Grow In The Middle East

Hawksford, the Jersey-based trust company, has purchased Trustcorp Group, the trust and corporate services provider also based in the UK Crown Dependency, for an undisclosed sum.

The deal will increase the headcount at Hawksford by 30 and take the total to 150. It is hoped to help the firm to boost its business in the Middle East, where it opened an office in Dubai in June last year.

In 2011, the trust company also made a move into the Swiss market by buying L-S&S GmbH, a boutique private wealth law firm based in Zurich, in August.

Hawksford was officially established in 2008 after a management buyout of Rathbones’ trust company in Jersey, backed by Dunedin, the UK private equity company. Its roots go back to the late 19th century, when lawyer Cyril Hawksford started his career in Jersey.
