Italy’s Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena has shortlisted four candidates as possible partners for its asset management business, according to local media sources. The short list includes Henderson Global Investor, Schroder Investment Management, Pictet and Franklin Templeton. The shortlist is not exclusive though and the Italian bank may accept offers from other players, says the source. BMPS is likely to sell 33 per cent of its asset management business to an industry partner and 33 per cent to a financial backer.
