The latest moves and appointments in wealth management in the UK, the rest of Europe, the Middle East and other select locations.

Independent Investment Management Initiative
Independent Investment Management Initiative (IIMI), a member-led industry group that represents specialist investment firms, has appointed James Foster to join its board of directors.

Foster (pictured) , who has worked in the asset management industry for 18 years, is a partner at Latitude Investment Management, a London-based global equity and multi-asset boutique. He is also the chief operating officer at Latitude.

“Latitude has been involved with the IIMI for some years and we are delighted to see the business flourish under the guidance and expertise of James and the rest of the leadership team. James will bring a wealth of knowledge to the board as our member firms continue to grow and succeed amidst an increasingly complex operating environment," Dani Hristova, chief executive officer for IIMI, said.

Founded in 2010, the IIMI has 45 members some of which are prominent specialist asset management firms, overseeing circa $500 billion in client assets and representing approximately 2,000 members of staff.

GSB Capital
Financial services group GSB Capital, which has operations in London and Dubai, has hired Michelle Devine as a director.

Devine will be based in the London office, bringing the number of team members of the UK operation to seven.

With over 15 years of experience, predominantly in M&A, the firm said that Devine’s “robust portfolio of expertise” and “dynamic leadership” would enhance GSB’s corporate clients' advisory services. She has worked at JP Morgan and Grant Thornton UK LLP, and served as senior manager of corporate development at Farfetch,

"Her wealth of experience and proven track record in corporate advisory will undoubtedly bolster our capabilities and drive our firm to new heights. Michelle’s arrival is the start of a flurry of new arrivals for the UK operation as we continue to expand the business outside of the UAE,” Ross Whatnall, co-founder and chief executive officer at GSB, said.

GSB Capital, the first-ever international firm to achieve CISI Chartered Firm status, was founded by Ross and Alison Whatnall in April 2021. This news service recently wrote a profile on the firm, which provides a range of wealth management services based on a strong ethical foundation.
