Schroders Reshuffles Asia Leadership
The CEO of its Asia business is retiring at the end of this year, and the deputy head for Asia-Pacific and CEO for Hong Kong is also stepping down. The UK-based group has made a number of appointments across the region.
Schroders yesterday
unveiled senior leadership appointments in its Asia-Pacific
business. CEO Susan Soh is going to retire at the end of 2022
after a 17-year period at the UK-listed firm.
Separately, Amy Cho, chief executive for Hong Kong and deputy
head for Asia-Pacific, is leaving the firm after a period of four
years. She is pursuing interests outside the firm.
Taking over from Soh is Chris Durack, who is
rejoining Schroders after having previously worked there in
various roles for 10 years. He was CEO for Hong Kong, chief
executive for the firm in Australia and most recently,
Asia-Pacific co-head. Based in Singapore, he will be
taking up the post in January.
Soh is a familiar face in the industry, holding positions
including chair of the Investment Management Association of
Singapore and Distinguished Fellow of the Institute of Banking &
Finance (IBF). Soh will remain in a part-time senior advisor role
at Schroders, the firm said in a statement.
Gopi Mirchandani, CEO and head of the Asia client group at NN
Investment Partners, will be appointed CEO, Hong Kong, reporting
to Durack, with effect from mid-January 2023. Additionally, she
will take on the newly-created role of head of strategy,
Asia-Pacific, where she will work with the leadership team to
identify new business opportunities and partnerships to
accelerate growth across the region. A lawyer by training,
Mirchandani has served in senior legal and compliance roles in
the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Deutsche Asset Management
and Fullerton Fund Management prior to taking on broader business
roles.
Szu Yi Chin, meanwhile, was appointed to the newly-created role
of head of distribution, Asia-Pacific, at the start of October
and is based in Singapore. Chin was previously with Schroders for
12 years, where she was responsible for the Mutual Funds business
in Singapore and Malaysia. She has spent the past eight years
with Fidelity International, where her last position was chairman
and head of Taiwan.
Amanda Irving, head of marketing for Australia, has been
appointed head of marketing, APAC, with effect from November
2022. Based in Sydney, Irving will relocate to Singapore in
January 2023. She is replacing Michelle Han, who has moved
to London to take up the role of global head of growth and
digital marketing. Irving, who has 20 years of marketing
experience in financial services, was marketing director at BT
Financial Group prior to joining Schroders.
