Sunil Mehta, country head and chief executive in India of global financial services company AIG, has told local media that the company is planning to venture into wealth management. He said: “We have been developing our businesses in India at a steady pace. We don’t want to rush into any new areas. Obviously, we are looking at business opportunities in mortgage guarantee, distressed assets recovery, wealth management and structured products.” The wealth management and mortgage guarantee segments will probably be managed by AIG Investments, with the other businesses run by AIG Capital India.
