Investors are opting increasingly for emerging markets funds which focus on specific countries and regions over those which invest globally, according to a survey by Fidelity Funds Network which compared the top ten emerging markets funds. In 2002 there were only 24 emerging market funds, compared to 52 funds available today on Fidelity’s network. The survey says that since 2000, a group of emerging markets have started to mature which have proved attractive. It compares the most popular funds today with 2002 when there was a heavy emphasis on global scope. Demand for country and regional specific emerging market funds has grown, and as a result the type of funds available to retail investors has increased. More funds which focus on specific countries like China, India and Russia are making it into the top ten. Fidelity's top ten are: 1. Gartmore China Opportunities Fund 2. Jupiter Emerging European Opportunities 3. Neptune Russia & Greater Russia Fund 4. Allianz RCM BRIC Stars Fund 5. JPM Emerging Markets Fund 6. Fidelity India Focus Fund 7. Invesco Perpetual Latin American Fund 8. First State Greater China Growth Fund 9. Jupiter China Fund 10. Aberdeen Emerging Markets
