Vontobel Launches Climate Conservation Index

Bank Vontobel has launched Voncert - a new climate conservation index that offers investors the opportunity to make a long-term and sustainable investment in a single transaction. Voncert has used INrate, an independent sustainability rating agency, to construct the investment universe. The choice was narrowed down to 20 companies in the spheres of activity such as solar power, renewable energies, climate-efficient infrastructures and products, and the use of new technologies and financing mechanisms. According to Vontobel, these enterprises offer investors interesting opportunities because they stand to profit from imminent structural change and so will also be among the winners in the financial markets. An important criterion in selecting the individual companies was that they are making a contribution to climate conservation through the innovativeness and efficiency of their products, activities, technologies and business models.
