Geneva-based bank Syz & Co has acquired Oria Capital, a Hong Kong-based fund of hedge funds management group. Oria will become part of Syz’s alternative investment business line and will change its name to 3A Asia. The company’s role will be to extend the group's funds of hedge funds to a fast-growing Asian investor base, and to analyse and select Asian hedge fund managers. Syz & Co’s alternative investment division is one of Switzerland's largest specialists in hedge fund analysis and alternative portfolio management, with over $2.5 billion in hedge fund assets. Jean Keller, chief executive of 3A said: "Oria Capital specialises in one of the world's most promising investment markets and has a team with unparalleled experience. “On average, top-performing funds in Asia close to new investors just 12-24 months after their launch. Having a highly-skilled team in Hong Kong will allow us to speed up our analysis and manager selection process of Asian managers and thus offer our investors access to the best investment opportunities in Asia." Syz manages $19.6 billion in assets, and has 250 employees. It has offices in Geneva, Zurich, Lugano and Locarno and also operates in London, Luxembourg, Nassau, Salzburg, Milan and Rome.
