Former CIO For Europe At Barclays' Wealth, Investment Arm Is Off To Rothschild

The former chief investment officer (Europe) at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, Kevin Gardner, is taking up a senior strategist role at Rothschild’s Wealth Management & Trust arm.
Gardiner begins his role on 18 August, and reports to Veit de Maddalena and Richard Martin, global co-heads of Rothschild’s Wealth Management & Trust business and Mark Kary, head of Rothschild’s Wealth Management business in the UK. He will hold the title of global investment strategist.
He has almost 30 years’ experience working in investment banking, research and latterly wealth management. Besides Barclays, where he had been since 2009, Gardiner had been managing director and head of equity strategy for HSBC’s Investment Bank from (2003 to 2009). He started his career as an economist at the Bank of England.
The Wealth Management & Trust business is part of ; other parts of the group include global financial advisory, institutional asset management, and merchant banking. Wealth and asset management assets stand at around €40 billion ($54.7 billion).
