Private Banking Training for Graduates Launched by Brown Shipley

One of the first graduate programmes specifically tailored for private banking has been launched by London-headquartered Brown Shipley. Peter Collier Brown Shipley’s marketing strategy director, said: “An important aim of this programme is the ability to train our own, which is part of our overall recruitment strategy. As the mix of technical and client-facing skills are hard to find, our emphasis at recruitment will be as much on those social skills required to ultimately make a high quality personal, trusted and valued private client advisor.” Brown Shipley’s graduate programme is for individuals from any degree discipline and the first will start in September 2007. The programme will provide practical experience of private banking to prepare them to become advisors with their own portfolio of clients. Mr Collier said that most other programmes in the sector are focused towards investment management. The positions will be based in London and Manchester with a starting salary around £26,000 (in London) and a “signing-on” bonus.
