- formerly Ernst & Young - has hired Philip Robinson as its chairman in Switzerland.

The current chairman, Thomas Stenz, is stepping down and Robinson will take over at the beginning of July.

Robinson began working for the consultancy firm in 1994 and joined the EY Switzerland management committee in 2005 as country managing partner, tax and law. In 2009 he assumed the role of global indirect tax leader at EY. The company is now looking for a replacement for this role.

He is also a lecturer at the University of Zurich and a member of the tax focus group of the Swiss Institute of Certified Accountants and Tax Consultants.

"International developments have been posing major challenges to Switzerland as a business location. In my new role as EY's representative, I want to make a constructive contribution to the debate about Switzerland's regulatory and fiscal orientation," Robinson said.
