Hong Kong Regulator Issues Lifetime Ban On Ex-Credit Suisse RM

A former relationship manager in Hong Kong has been banned for life from re-entering the industry, according to the Securities and Futures Commission.

Lum Yin Ling, a former relationship manager at the Swiss bank's Hong Kong branch, was convicted and sentenced in 8 October 2013 to imprisonment of seven years on one count of fraud. The sentence was handed down by the Court First Instance.

In between April 2011 and September 2012, Lum was found to have misappropriated a total of around $31 million on seven occasions from three client accounts, either by deceiving the client to obtain written instructions or by forging client signatures on relevant payment instructions. 

Lum is currently not registered with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority of licenced by the SFC.
