, an independent trust company based in Jersey, has pushed its business reach eastward with the opening of offices in Hong Kong and Mauritius, adding 24 staff and boosting total employee headcount to 89.

The new operations are called Nautilus Fiduciary Hong Kong Limited and Nautilus Fiduciary Mauritius Limited.

‘Nautilus’ move into Hong Kong and Mauritius allows us to now offer our exceptional service across multiple jurisdictions to an increasingly globally mobile client base,’ said Jason Cowleard, managing director of Nautilus Trust Company Limited.

“Our move into Hong Kong was also a strategic business decision due to its growing influence as a gateway to Asia. Hong Kong’s Trust Law (Amendment) Bill 2013, which came into operation on 1 December, has brought Hong Kong legislation much more in line with the equivalent laws in Singapore and England and looks likely to drive business back into Hong Kong from other jurisdictions,” Jason Cowleard, managing director at Nautius Trust Company Limited, said in a statement.

Nautilus was incorporated in 1999 and has grown both organically and via acquisitions, such as its purchase of New World Trustees (Jersey) Limited in March last year.

Cowleard added that some members of its Jersey team will be seconded for training and development purposes to the Mauritius and Hong Kong offices.
