BNY Mellon Wealth Management Recruits From Merrill For New York Tri-State Region

has recruited Drew Maldonado as a senior director for business
development, charged with overseeing the firm’s New York-Tri-State region. Based in Madison, NJ, Maldonado will report to managing director Katia Friend. He was latterly
a managing director at Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management, where he ran the
equities business. He also worked on client account management and business
development for the Global Investment Solutions group. Previously, Maldonado was
vice president and head of position trading for global equities at Fidelity
Capital Markets. In other recent hires,
last week BNY Mellon Wealth Management appointed
William Johnston to a newly-created position: head of private banking
solutions. Johnston is based in New York and joined from Capital One Bank,
where he was market executive for middle market. The same week, three senior
directors for business development were named in Connecticut, Los Angeles and
New York (view here). All these hires are part of the firm’s
previously-announced two-year recruiting campaign to increase its sales force by
50 per cent and create other roles in important US wealth markets.
