Big Names Head To Singapore Top-ranking policymakers past and present are travelling to Singapore to
thrash out ideas on economic and financial issues in Asia-Pacific and further
afield. Former US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, ex-European
Central Bank president Jean Claude Trichet, and senior economist John Lipsky
will be joined by Asian luminaries Jin Liqun, former chairman of the Board of
Supervisors, China Investment Corporation (CIC); Tharman Shanmugaratnam, deputy
Prime Minister and Minister for Finance,
Singapore, at
the second annual SALT Asia Conference. Another high-profile figure speaking at the conference is Marc
Faber, the editor and publisher of “The Gloom, Boom & Doom Report”. SALT Asia is a global summit, bringing together leaders and
professionals from every area of the world, to meld disparate views and
challenge one another’s thinking, as well as share best practices and make
connections. “We are excited for this year’s program, which we believe
will produce some great ideas for navigating the global markets and economy in
the year ahead,” Anthony Scaramucci managing partner at SkyBridge, said. Among the topics will be monetary policy on a global and
regional level and China’s
potential economic slowdown and the consequences for Japan,
which is showing signs of recovery for the first time in a decade, as well as
other key regions in Asia. SALT is produced by SkyBridge Capital, an alternative
investment firm with approximately $8.3 billion in assets under advisement or
management as of June 30, 2013. The summit will take place from the 24th to 27th of
September, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
