Philadelphia, PA-based Janney Montgomery Scott has added
industry veterans Alfred DeRenzis and Scott Ford to its new Westminster, MD,
office as senior vice president of wealth management and first vice president
of wealth management, respectively. DeRenzis and Ford, who collectively oversee approximately
$159 million in client assets, will be joined by registered private client assistant,
Karen Seipp, to form the DeRenzis Ford Group. “With more than 50 years of combined industry experience, DeRenzis
and Ford will be a catalyst to continued strategic expansion locally and within
the Mid-Atlantic region,” said Jerry Lombard, president of the firm’s Private
Client Group. DeRenzis and Ford both join Janney from Morgan Stanley,
where they spent the past four years. The team previously worked at
Citigroup (2006-2009), and spent 25 and eight years, respectively, at Legg Mason before that. Janney’s Westminster
branch office is led by branch manager Todd Mitchell. In another move, Janney has reinforced its presence in Florida with the addition of Greg Torretta as senior vice
president and branch manager in Fort
Lauderdale. Torretta has around 30 years of experience in the financial
services industry and is charged with leading the firm’s business in Fort Lauderdale. He will
report to regional manager, Michael Levin. Torretta started his career at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney
(now Morgan Stanley Wealth Management), ending his stint there are a regional
director. He then moved to Raymond James and joins Janney from Ameriprise
Financial. In a related move, last week Janney hired W G Simms Oliphant and Christopher Smith as senior vice presidents for wealth management in Columbia, SC. Lombard said Janney has
hired 17 advisors since the start of 2013, adding that the firm expects to add
more in the coming months.
