Jupiter Fund Management, the London-based fund house, is building its Asian team after receiving a type 1 license to operate in Hong Kong. Peter Swarbeck, previously the managing director and head of Hong Kong at BlackRock Asset Management, is now head of Asia-Pacific, while Tony Yu joined the firm in January from Franklin Templeton to become sales director for Hong Kong. Both are newly-created roles. In receiving its dealing license from the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, the company expands its Asian franchise beyond its existing Singapore and Taiwan businesses. Its Taiwan presence is via a partnership with Taishin Bank. Jupiter Fund Management records some $40.4 billion in assets as of 30 December 2012.
