Suncorp Group, the Australia and New Zealand focused banking and wealth management firm, has named a new chief investment officer.

Nick Basile gave up his chief executive post at Presima, the real estate fund management arm of National Australia Bank, to assume this key position. He was replaced by Peter Zabierek.

Before the role was handed to Basile, the responsibilities of the CIO were shared by various divisions. He now reports to John O'Farrell, the head of capital and investments.

Suncorp Group has around A$93.5 billion ($97 billion) in assets under management as of March 2013.
